The Burt residence in Brentwood, Los Angeles, is a perfect blend of functional design, outdoor living, and sustainability. The front of the house steps back from the street and embraces a 100-year-old sycamore tree as its focal point, while the back revolves around a central yard space featuring outdoor amenities like a guest house and pool. The interior and exterior spaces seamlessly blend into one, creating a private garden-like atmosphere inside the house. The home's design prioritizes sustainability, with passive design strategies for energy efficiency, an optimally angled roof for solar panels, construction with eco-friendly materials such as fly ash concrete and wood, and high-rated insulation panels for a wellness-centered environment.
