Situated along the breathtaking Pacific Coast bluff with views stretching up the Pacific Coast Highway towards Malibu, CA, the Breeze Residence fulfills the client's desire for "something extraordinary." This residence unites engineering, art, and nature into one harmonious union.
The mass of the building is divided into two distinct sections, separated by an open courtyard featuring an infinity pool and lounge areas. This division softens the visual impact of a large house, making it appear as two smaller homes situated in the landscape. An enclosed bridge adorned with a green wall connects these two sections, seamlessly blending with the surrounding hillside and enhancing the home's integration with nature. The design meticulously considers the views of surrounding neighbors by keeping the home's profile low and shaping the rooflines to preserve sightlines. Inspired by the coastal setting, the roofs are sculpted like sails, capturing the essence of movement brought by the ocean breeze.
The home excels in achieving the owner's goals by creating a site-specific form that maximizes the stunning coastal views while minimizing environmental impact. The design integrates structurally with the hillside, ensuring stability and a seamless connection to the natural terrain.
