Perched on the dramatic bluffs of Pacific Palisades, the Elliot residence is a sculptural composition of shifting volumes, designed to maximize breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and the Malibu coastline. Thoughtfully crafted for a family of five, the home seamlessly integrates indoor and outdoor living across multiple levels while respecting the natural contours of the hillside. From the street, the home maintains a low profile, blending discreetly into the landscape before cascading down the bluff in a series of dynamic volumes. This terraced design allows the residence to harmonize with its surroundings while ensuring that every level enjoys uninterrupted views of the ocean and the Santa Monica Mountains.
A series of cascading exterior spaces unfold from the basement-level patio to an intermediate terrace, culminating in a stunning rooftop deck. Atop the residence, a lap pool offers a breathtaking vantage point, floating above the hillside with panoramic views to the coastline and beyond. A distinct vertical volume anchors the home’s interior circulation, while a zigzagging series of exterior stairs connects each outdoor space, carefully positioned to maintain views to the surrounding natural beauty.
Built with fire-resistant materials and designed with passive strategies, the home prioritizes both safety and sustainability. High-performance glazing, thermal massing, and strategic shading work together to optimize energy efficiency and indoor comfort, while non-combustible exterior finishes enhance resilience against wildfire risks.
