There is potential in every project to explore and challenge conventional notions of what architecture should be. There are always new questions and ultimately answers which arise in the course of these explorations. For example, traditional townhomes and condominiums are conceived within one large structure subdivided into units by ‘party walls.’ This project challenges this notion by breaking down the individual condos into autonomous volumes on the site, creating a shared courtyard between units. Aesthetically, the buildings fit within the context of the historic neighborhood.
